Game Design Exercise 2 Working in pairs create a two-person game that can be played in 5 minutes with the following constraints: - You may use only one game board, no larger than 20x20 inches. - Your game needs to be about some aspect related to the recession. It can be a critique, a lampoon, an opportunity to vent, or something educational. Write down the rules for your game. Your rules must be sufficient for others to play the game without resorting to asking your help. The rules can be at most 1 page long using 12 point time new roman font and 0.5 inch borders on the top/side. This is not intended to be a polished masterpiece of art. The goal here is to learn about game design, not to create a finished product ready for market. There is no reason to spend lots of time creating a beautiful board with great art. Simple color with simple geometric figures can make for a pleasant game. If characters are important to your game it is fine to use stick figures and words. For example a stick figure with the word "banker" is fine, you do not need to draw a dude in a 3-piece suit carrying a briefcase. You CAN, but there is no need. Due in Class on Monday: a) Your game b) 10 copies of the rules. In class we will break into two groups to vet games into the top 4 games. Your game will be played by people in the other group and they can not ask you for rule clarification. For each game the group must write up: a) What the group likes about the game. b) What the group does not like about the game. What does not work, what could be improved and how. c) If the rules were not sufficient, what was the confusion.
